NASA's Voyager 1 and 2 spacecraft were launched thirty years ago. They are now 15 and 12.5 billion kilometers from the Sun, respectively. The Voyagers are still functioning and are tracked through the Deep Space Network. They carry a 12-inch gold-plated copper disk, a message in a bottle for any extraterrestrial life that might find them.
