A Milky Way Band
NASA APOD · John P. Gleason
COSMIC MESSAGE
Our Milky Way Galaxy's stars form a disk, and because our Sun is also in that disk, these stars appear as a band across the sky. This panorama shows a section of that band. You can see bright stars, dark dust lanes, and various nebulae, all part of our home galaxy.
