Mercury Chases the Sunset

NASA APOD · Doug Zubenel
COSMIC MESSAGE

Mercury is the innermost planet in our solar system, making it difficult to see from Earth. It's always close to the Sun in the sky, often lost in the glare. This image captures it just after sunset, a small dot against the orange glow of the horizon. The slender crescent Moon is also visible, high above.
