Polaris Dust Nebula

COSMIC MESSAGE
This four-degree wide field of view is centered on Polaris, the North Star. It covers part of a complex of diffuse dust clouds high above the Milky Way's plane. The combined light of Milky Way stars is reflected by this dusty galactic cirrus, giving the reflected starlight a blue tint. This deep color image also records a faint reddish luminescence from the dust grains as they convert invisible stellar light.
