COSMIC MESSAGE

M55 is a large, lovely globular cluster with about 100,000 stars. It sits 20,000 light-years away in the constellation Sagittarius. From Earth, it appears nearly two-thirds the size of the full moon. Globular clusters like M55 are ancient groups of stars that orbit within the halo of our Milky Way galaxy.
