COSMIC MESSAGE

Just south of the famous Orion Nebula lies this collection of nebulae and young stars. The graceful arc of HH 222, also called the Waterfall Nebula, is a shock wave created by energetic outflows from a newborn star. This region is full of such Herbig-Haro objects, where young stars push through surrounding material at high speeds.
