IC 2948: The Running Chicken Nebula

COSMIC MESSAGE
IC 2948, also known as the Running Chicken Nebula, is a bright nebula in Centaurus. It is a reddish glowing cloud of hydrogen gas, typical of emission nebulae found in massive star-forming regions. Embedded within it is the energetic young star cluster Collinder 249, and small, dark clouds of obscuring dust are seen in silhouette.
