Circles in the Sky
NASA APOD · Jean-Marc Lecleire
COSMIC MESSAGE
Photographer Jean-Marc Lecleire captured this display of ice halos forming complete circles in the sky. Recorded with a fish-eye lens near the Château de Chambord in France, the image looks straight up, spanning almost 180 degrees. The main halo, 22 degrees in radius, surrounds the Sun, formed by light refracting through hexagonal ice crystals.
