COSMIC MESSAGE
Ten thousand years ago, a star exploded, creating the Veil Nebula, a colorful expanding cloud. The west end of the Veil Nebula, known as NGC 6960 or the Witch's Broom Nebula, is shown here. The expanding debris cloud gains its colors by sweeping up and exciting existing nearby gas. The supernova remnant is about 1,400 light-years away in Cygnus.
