COSMIC MESSAGE

This striking 'X' on the Moon is an illusion, visible only for about four hours before the Moon's first quarter phase. It's created by the way sunlight hits the rims of craters Blanchinus, La Caille, and Purbach at the terminator line. You can see it with binoculars or a small telescope.
