This sungrazer comet was destroyed by the Sun. The SOHO spacecraft recorded it in 1996, arcing toward its fiery fate. SOHO's LASCO instrument uses an occulting disk to block the overwhelming solar disk. This allows it to image the inner five million miles of the faint corona, where the comet's coma entered the bright equatorial solar wind.
