Martian Dunes and the Shadow of Opportunity
The Opportunity rover, in its sixth year on Mars, captured this composite image in Meridiani Planum. Visible are the rover's tracks, rippling sand dunes, and light-colored bedrock. Parts of the metallic rover and its shadow are also visible. Opportunity continues to explore the red planet, far exceeding its original mission expectations.
