Possible Mud Volcanoes on Mars

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

This image shows a hill on Mars that some scientists suggest might be a mud volcano. If it is, it could be dredging up Martian microbes. These hills resemble mud volcanoes on Earth more than lava volcanoes or impact craters on Mars. Infrared images show these hills cool faster than surrounding rock, consistent with ice in the ground.
