COSMIC MESSAGE
The Ring Nebula, M57, is a familiar sight for skywatchers in the constellation Lyra, about 2,000 light-years away. While the central ring is about one light-year across, this deep exposure reveals much fainter, looping filaments of glowing gas extending farther from the central star. This image combines data from three different telescopes.
