Atlantis Lift Off

COSMIC MESSAGE
Space Shuttle Atlantis has lifted off, but not from its launch pad. This wide-angle photo shows the orbiter lifted off the floor of Kennedy Space Center's Vehicle Assembly Building. Atlantis was attached to an external fuel tank and solid rocket boosters before its rollout. This prepared it for its actual liftoff on May 14, for the STS-132 mission to the International Space Station.
