COSMIC MESSAGE

Some 60 million light-years away in the constellation Corvus, two large galaxies, NGC 4038 and NGC 4039, have collided. The stars themselves do not collide, but their large clouds of molecular gas and dust do. This triggers furious episodes of star formation near the center of the cosmic wreckage. This view spans about 500 thousand light-years, revealing new star clusters and flung-out matter.
