The Elusive Jellyfish Nebula

NASA APOD · Bob Franke
COSMIC MESSAGE

The Jellyfish Nebula, IC 443, is a supernova remnant, the expanding debris cloud from a massive star's explosion. Its arcing ridge of emission and dangling tentacles give it its name. Flanked by the stars Mu and Eta Geminorum, this elusive nebula is a vivid reminder of the violent end of a star's life.
