Auroras can be spectacular. This photo, taken above Tromsø, Norway, shows flowing multi-colored auroras illuminating the sky. The photographer also captured three satellite streaks, an airplane streak, and a friend trying to get the same shot. Auroras add light to the sky and do not block background stars.
