Early morning skygazers in the eastern Atlantic saw a dark red Moon on December 21, 2010. This marked the start of the total phase of the Solstice Lunar Eclipse near moonset. This image, a composite from Tenerife, Canary Islands, shows the Moon sinking deeper into eclipse as it moved across the sky.
