Iridescent Clouds from the Top of the World Highway

Sometimes, clouds display a spectrum of colors. These are iridescent clouds, a phenomenon caused by sunlight diffracting through small water droplets of uniform size. When the Sun is positioned just right, often mostly hidden by thicker clouds, these thinner clouds bend different colors of light by different amounts. This particular display was captured from the Top of the World Highway in Alaska.
