COSMIC MESSAGE
The Whirlpool Galaxy, M51, has recently had one of the brightest supernovae in years. This is the third supernova in M51 in seventeen years, a surprisingly high number for a single galaxy. The image shows two views of M51, one before and one after the supernova appeared.
