Stars and Dust Across Corona Australis

NASA APOD · Leonardo Julio (Astronomia Pampeana)
COSMIC MESSAGE

Cosmic dust clouds sprawl across a star-rich field near the northern boundary of Corona Australis. These clouds, less than 500 light-years away, block light from more distant Milky Way stars. The densest part of the cloud is about 8 light-years long. At its tip are reflection nebulae, including NGC 6726, 6727, 6729, and IC 4812, which glow with a characteristic blue color.
