COSMIC MESSAGE

This cosmic portrait features glowing gas and obscuring dust in IC 1795, a star-forming region in Cassiopeia. Also cataloged as NGC 896, the nebula's details are captured in its dominant red color. This image uses a narrowband filter to show only H-alpha light, the red light of hydrogen atoms. This light is emitted when hydrogen is ionized by ultraviolet light from energetic young stars.
