COSMIC MESSAGE
Jupiter, the largest planet in our solar system, was at opposition on October 29, 2011. This means it was opposite the Sun in Earth's sky, shining brightly and offering excellent views for telescopes. This image, taken with the 1-meter telescope at Pic Du Midi Observatory, shows Jupiter's stormy, banded atmosphere and its Galilean moons.
