COSMIC MESSAGE
Our Sun is increasingly active, as seen in this image from last week, featuring numerous features including sunspot group AR 1339. The Sun is emerging from an unusually quiet solar minimum that lasted for years. This image, recorded in hydrogen alpha light, is inverted and false-colored. Spicules cover much of the Sun's face, and the gradual brightening towards the limb is also visible.
