A Landslide on Asteroid Vesta
NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE
Asteroid Vesta features some of the solar system's most impressive cliffs, like the one pictured here, which runs about 20 kilometers from top to bottom. The robotic Dawn spacecraft, which began orbiting Vesta earlier this year, captured this image. The topography suggests huge landslides may have occurred down this slope. The origin of the scarp is still unknown.
