NASA APOD · Adam Block
COSMIC MESSAGE

This region, Sh2-239 and LDN 1551, is a mix of dust and dark nebulae, sculpted by star formation. It lies about 450 light-years away, near the southern end of the Taurus molecular cloud complex. Stretching nearly three light-years, the area shows signs of young stars driving outflows into their surroundings. Near the center, a compact red jet of shocked hydrogen gas marks a site of stellar birth.
