Sun vs. Super Moon
NASA APOD · Charlie Szabototh
COSMIC MESSAGE
This composite image compares the apparent size of the Moon and the Sun. The Full Moon on May 6, 2012, was photographed at perigee, its closest point to Earth in its elliptical orbit, making it appear largest for the year. The Sun was photographed the following day using the same camera and telescope, with a dense solar filter. The 'Super Moon' appears slightly larger than the Sun in this comparison.
