Jupiter's Rings Revealed
Jupiter has rings, discovered by Voyager 1 in 1979. Their origin was a mystery until the Galileo spacecraft, which orbited Jupiter from 1995 to 2003, provided data. The rings are formed by meteoroid impacts on small moons, like Adrastea. These impacts kick up dirt and dust into Jovian orbit, creating the rings.
