M31, the Andromeda Galaxy, and M33, the Triangulum Galaxy, are two large spirals in our Local Group. This wide-angle image shows their colorful details, with the star Mirach between them. M31 is 2.5 million light-years away, and M33 is 3 million light-years away. Both are visible to the naked eye under dark skies.
