NGC 7789: Caroline's Rose

COSMIC MESSAGE

NGC 7789, also known as Caroline's Rose, is an open star cluster in Cassiopeia, about 8,000 light-years away. Caroline Lucretia Herschel discovered it in the late 18th century. The cluster's appearance, with its nested complex of stars and voids, gives it its evocative name. This cluster is estimated to be 1.6 billion years old.
