The Magnificent Tail of Comet McNaught

COSMIC MESSAGE
Comet McNaught, the Great Comet of 2007, developed a remarkably long and filamentary tail. This tail stretched across the sky, visible for several days to observers in the Southern Hemisphere just after sunset. Long-duration, wide-angle exposures showed its greatest extent. The comet's discoverer captured this image just after sunset in January.
