Venus, Zodiacal Light, and the Galactic Center

NASA APOD · Juergen Schmoll
COSMIC MESSAGE

Venus, the brightest object in this South African skyscape, shines prominently in the western sky. Above it, the zodiacal light, caused by sunlight reflecting off dust in our solar system, stretches upwards. The bulging center of our Milky Way Galaxy is also visible, with dust lanes appearing to flow towards Antares in Scorpius.
