Persistent Saturnian Auroras

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

Saturn's auroras glow in ultraviolet, much like Earth's. However, unlike Earth's, which last only hours, Saturn's can persist for days. This image, taken by the Hubble Space Telescope in 2004, captured the persistent glow around the gas giant's south pole. The Cassini spacecraft simultaneously recorded radio emissions and solar wind data to help us understand these differences.
