Noctilucent Clouds over London
NASA APOD · Christoph Malin
COSMIC MESSAGE
Noctilucent clouds glow over London, seen from Westminster Bridge. These are Earth's highest clouds, forming in the mesosphere, about 80 kilometers up. They are made of tiny ice crystals that reflect sunlight even after the Sun has set below the horizon. They are a relatively recent phenomenon, first widely reported in the late 19th century.
