Comet McNaught Over New Zealand
NASA APOD · Minoru Yoneto
COSMIC MESSAGE
Comet McNaught was a spectacular sight in 2007, especially from the Southern Hemisphere. After dazzling observers in the north, it moved south and developed a long, unusual dust tail. This image, taken from Queenstown, New Zealand, captures the bright comet between Mount Remarkable and Cecil Peak. It was one of the most photogenic comets of modern times.
