The central disk of our Milky Way Galaxy arches over the Toadstools rock formations in Arizona. Usually, rocks on the ground are older than the light from stars or nebulae in the sky. However, light from a distant galaxy, far across the universe, would be even more ancient. The Milky Way's light in this image is much younger than the rocks below.
