COSMIC MESSAGE
This image shows Polaris and Comet Lovejoy, two objects with very different motions. Polaris, the North Star, appears stationary because the Earth's northern spin pole points towards it. Comet Lovejoy, however, is much closer and moves noticeably across the sky. The comet is about ten million times closer than Polaris, making its motion much more apparent.
