COSMIC MESSAGE
Messier 43 is a large star-forming region that is part of the Orion Nebula complex. This close-up view was taken with a near-infrared instrument on one of the 6.5-meter Magellan telescopes. While often overlooked for its larger neighbor, Messier 43 is a region of gas and dust where new stars are being born. The Great Orion Nebula itself lies just off the lower edge of this frame.
