COSMIC MESSAGE

New Horizons successfully completed its close encounter with Pluto and began sending back a wealth of data. This image is the highest resolution view of Pluto taken before the closest approach, bringing the dwarf planet into sharp focus. Pluto appears reddish, with several craters and a surprisingly featureless light-covered region.
