Tonight, the Perseid Meteor Shower reaches its maximum. Grains of icy rock, shed from Comet Swift-Tuttle, will streak across the sky as they evaporate in Earth's atmosphere. The Perseids are typically the most active meteor shower of the year, a result of Earth crossing the comet's orbit annually.
