The center of Cygnus the Swan unfolds across this skyscape, a six-degree expanse of glowing hydrogen gas. The bright supergiant star Gamma Cygni, also known as Sadr, sits in the foreground. To its left, IC 1318, shaped like two luminous wings, is divided by a dark dust lane.
