Arp 159 and NGC 4725

NASA APOD · Stephen Leshin
COSMIC MESSAGE

Pointy stars in our own Milky Way foreground this view toward Coma Berenices. Far beyond, about 41 million light-years away, are two peculiar galaxies. The smaller, distorted galaxy on the left, NGC 4747, is Arp 159 in the Atlas of Peculiar Galaxies. It shows extensive tidal tails from gravitational interaction.
