New Horizons sent back these images of Pluto, showing mountains and plains in stunning detail. On the left are the al-Idrisi Montes, highlands made of water ice. A sharp boundary separates them from the ice plains on the right, which form part of Pluto's heart-shaped region. These are the sharpest views we have of this distant world.
