COSMIC MESSAGE

The annual Geminid meteor shower occurs as Earth passes through dust from asteroid 3200 Phaethon. This composite image, taken over five hours in the Southern Hemisphere, shows many meteor streaks radiating from Gemini. The photograph was taken above the twin 6.5-meter Magellan telescopes, located in Chile.
