The Horsehead Nebula

COSMIC MESSAGE
The Horsehead Nebula, about 1,500 light years away in Orion, is a dark cloud of dust silhouetted against a bright red emission nebula. The horse-head shape is a chance alignment, much like clouds in Earth's atmosphere. Over thousands of years, the internal motions of the gas and dust will change its appearance.
