COSMIC MESSAGE
The luminous decorations on this pinyon pine tree are actually bright stars in the constellation Scorpius. The faint glow of the central Milky Way also contributes to the scene. Captured from the Grand Canyon's north rim, the image blurs distant stars into colorful disks due to shallow focus. A star's temperature determines its color, with most bright stars in Scorpius appearing blue.
