From the International Space Station, Earth's limb glows with the colors of sunset. Above it, a red sprite, a flash of electrical discharge in the upper atmosphere, briefly appears. These sprites are difficult to photograph and were once thought to be a myth. The ISS solar panels are visible on the left, capturing sunlight as it orbits.
