COSMIC MESSAGE
The Big Dipper, a familiar asterism, points to distant galaxies in this deep sky view. M101, the Pinwheel Galaxy, and M51, the Whirlpool Galaxy, are spiral galaxies far beyond our own, seen on the left. To the right, M108, an edge-on spiral, and M97, the Owl Nebula, a planetary nebula, are also visible, all from Messier's catalog.
