COSMIC MESSAGE

The Andromeda Galaxy, also known as M31, is 2.5 million light-years away and the most distant object visible to the naked eye. In this image from Italy, it appears as a faint smudge near the top center. Most other visible sky objects, like stars and nebulae, are much closer and within our own Milky Way Galaxy.
